Linda Case, Owner

Linda Case grew up training and showing dogs and opened AutumnGold with her husband Mike in 1987. Linda is a canine nutritionist, dog trainer, and science writer. She earned her B.S. in Animal Science at Cornell University and her M.S. in Canine/Feline Nutrition at the University of Illinois, and was a lecturer of companion animal science at the University of Illinois for 15 years. She also taught companion animal behavior and training at the College of Veterinary Medicine. In addition to teaching students and their dogs at AutumnGold, Linda is a popular speaker and author who lectures frequently about dog nutrition, training, behavior, and health. She is the author of numerous publications and of seven books, most recently “Only Have Eyes for You: Exploring Canine Research with The Science Dog” and “Beware the Straw Man: The Science Dog Examines Dog Training Fact & Fiction”. She also writes the popular blog “The Science Dog” ( Linda and Mike currently share their lives with four amazing dogs; Vinny, Chip, Cooper, and Alice, plus Pete the formerly feral cat. In addition to training dogs, Linda enjoys hiking, swimming, yoga, bird watching and gardening – all of which she happily shares with her dogs. Linda teaches the Beginner classes at AutumnGold, along with Clicker Tricks, Canine Nosework, and Fun Agility.


Amanda Rodriguez

Amanda has been training with AutumnGold since 2011. She started by assisting Beginner classes while in college. After graduating with a degree in Biology from Augustana College, she began to teach her own classes at AutumnGold, as well as continuing to assist. Through both employment and internships at animal shelters and animal welfare organizations (including the Champaign County Humane Society, Best Friends Animal Society, and a shelter in Sydney, Australia), Amanda has gained a wide breadth of experience in dog behavior and training. She has also taken courses through the Karen Pryor Academy, including the Dog Trainer Professional Program, and is a Certified Training Partner through that organization. She lives with two dogs; Gracie, a Vizsla, and Colbie, a Pit Bull mix, who both enjoy clicker training, running, hiking, and squirrel watching. Amanda teaches a variety of classes at AutumnGold including Canine Freestyle, Rally Free, Strategic Reinforcement, and Platform Training. She also assists with AutumnGold’s Beginner Classes.

Carla Zych

After many years as an AutumnGold client, training her own dogs as well as puppies she raised for service-dog provider Canine Companions for Independence, Carla has been assisting with all the beginner and some advanced classes since 2014. Carla worked with Linda to develop and teach the Puppy Preschool class and is now co-developing and co-teaching some advanced classes. A graduate of the Dog Trainer Professional program offered by the Karen Pryor Academy for Animal Training and Behavior, she is a Certified Training Partner (KPACTP). Carla holds a bachelor's degree in English from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She did freelance work for Publication Services and was an editor at Human Kinetics for 15 years.


Pam Lowrey

Pam grew up with dogs and trained her first dog, a Decker Rat Terrier, in 1980. She has been training at AutumnGold and assisting with classes for many years. Pam has a B.S. degree in Psychology and an M.S. degree in Advertising from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She has taught pet training classes at PetSmart, has volunteeredr at the Champaign County Humane Society and was a founding board member of the Companion Animal Resource and Education (CARE) Center. She is currently a volunteer with Basenji Rescue and Transport and is an AKC Canine Good Citizen Test Evaluator. At AutumnGold, Pam teaches Rally, helps to run CGC tests, and assists with our Beginner Classes. She currently lives with three rescued Basenjis, Betty Sue, Kaleb and Kajun.
